Day 7
My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 NIV
This verse starts off very personal for me. My God. Not just any of the idols and things that people worship out there, but my very personal God. The God who is very involved and in my life and present in my every moment. My God who because he is so involved is very aware of everything going on in my life. My God, Jehovah, the Existing One, the One who was, Who is, and Who always will be, He is my God.
He will meet, he will cause satisfaction, see fit the answer to whatever is required in my life, he will handle it , and nothing is a match for Him.
The incredible thing about this verse is that He doesn’t just do this sometimes or when it is convenient. This is how we as humans function and operate. So often, we will do what we can for someone when it works for us, but not my God. He will meet all the need. He is a God of the total sum of necessity. He sees things to completion. If my need is a weakness in my life, He supplies my lack. If I need answers, He is adequate for the answer. If I lack, He is my provision. He meets all. There is no lack in Him.
I find myself often thinking on a human level even when it comes to God, which really makes no sense when you think about it, but when I do think this way, I see God in limitation. Yet, He is the limitless One. This reminds me that how He meets my lack or my need is not based upon human understanding. He does it according to, in agreement with, in keeping with HIS glorious, magnificent riches, treasure, resources, plenty, substance, and divine fortune. In other words, He is not drawing my lack from an earthly carnal supply, but He has resources available that I know nothing about. They are not of this world, but He can pull them into this world and supply my life with whatever is lacking, missing or needed. If I need wisdom, He supplies with wisdom that comes from above.
This entire verse ministers to me, but the first two words make the verse so much more for me. Everything that follows for me comes from the place of His personal involvement in my life. He will supply every lack in Freda today in agreement with his incredible resources made available in my Saviour Christ Jesus.

January 11, 2014 at 11:57 amThat is a good, true and positive word Pastor. I too was surprised as I pondered the depths of the resources which are limitless and available. BUT my mind wondered ……for who? I began to feel challenged by this verse today. Perhaps I am digging too deeply but I looked at what I personally have thought and experienced. I guess what you may say are the things that go on in my heart. As I look honestly at how I live my life, it is based on the limited resources of what we have or the smarts that I believe we have. I tend not to stray from the boundaries where I might need more than I presently possess. This thought is bothersome to me because it would support that I am still the one in charge of this life and I have not submitted it to the Lordship of the king. What if I was meant to go where He led me to go regardless of my personal abilities or financial resources? What if He spoke and I listened without reasoning away why this can’t be God or looked at the possibility of success through my limitations in life. Most would call my way of life prudent or sensible which sound like positive comments but will this behavior be viewed that way in the kingdom. I have noticed that the two kingdoms do not follow the same laws of value the same things. Perhaps the reason that I or that others like me have never really tasted the fulness of what God is saying to us here is because we don’t want to leave the safety our our controlled world to the much bigger world that He created for us. Unless I follow Him beyond the borders of my limitations will I ever truly know Him? Do I really trust the little I have more than His unfathomable riches and endless supply? I guess the steps we take in our lives will tell the truth of what we really believe and what it is that has our trust. Oh the things I discover when I dig deep below the surface. I guess I do need to do some sorting with Margie regarding clutter we have been holding on too. That is a story for another day.

January 11, 2014 at 1:27 pmI was struck by the “all your needs” portion. After meditating, pronouncing, praying here is my application: I desire to take the lead from Philippians 4:19 and trust that my “perceived” NEEDS that remain UNFULFILLED are NOT a part of God’s WILL for Karen. I choose to rest in the knowledge that Gods Son has more than enough provision for “all MY needs”. Both today and tomorrow!!!!

January 11, 2014 at 2:56 pmThe scripture “MY God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. “(Phil.4:19) What stood out in this passage was “according to his glorious riches” and so these are some of my reflections regarding this passage:
God is closer than any friend…Who walks and talks with His people…with us personally. He has your hand in His hand, and as Jesus said… “Go … to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” John 20:17. God is your Father.
These riches that we have are found “in Christ Jesus”. What was exciting to me about this passage was “you”. Think about it. What do you think God would have that would be gloriously rich? Hint: It is “in” Christ Jesus! Next question: What would be the high price of the Father be, for these riches? When we consider that the Father paid the highest price…that He gave His only Son….and placed “us” together in Him on the Cross….You his treasure found in the field called earth…and that we rose together with Him…we in Him! Then…my brother and sister in Christ….you who are the Body of Christ….it is You Who meet my needs….It is Christ in You….the Father in You…the Holy Spirit in You….the effective working of the Body of Christ, His Church…God working in Her…the Bride of Christ…Heaven on Earth manifested in us…as “One” as Jesus prayed in John, chapt. 17: “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” So, then…Jesus is the Treasure I found in the field…and my needs are fulfilled by You in Christ Jesus, and your needs are fulfilled by me in Christ. In Col.2:19, we read “the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increase with the increase of God.” And as Col.2 :2 says…” That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

January 11, 2014 at 11:01 pmThis verse has taught me much over the years-but the word it brings to the forefront of my mind today is need. God has been teaching me the difference between need and want-oftentimes we mix these 2 words up and think of wants as being needs. I remember studying Maslow’s need hierarchy in nursing school and the basic needs that we all have as human beings-food,water,shelter,clothing,companionship,love,etc-God promises to supply those needs of our lives-like he provides for all his creation ie the birds, flowers, animals are all provided for. We are not to be worried about such things. But for His children,He provides for our spiritual needs as well. How he does that is the key to this verse for me-only through His riches in Christ Jesus-What are those riches that He has given us? What would happen if we made a list and focused on thanking Him for all the riches He has given to us? Needs that only He can supply- such as salvation, acceptance, adoption, forgiveness, justification, a family of believers, hope, joy, love, faith, strength, wisdom,a home in glory, etc Get my drift?? All of these things are the wonderful blessings/gifts He has given to us. Who knows our needs more than God our creator?? He made us, surely we can trust that He not only knows what we need but also is able to give us what we need from His bountiful supply!! The flip side of that is that He can also withhold from us those things we may want that would not be good for us to have and we have to trust that He knows what is best for us better than we do. Thanking God today for all the needs He has supplied for me in Christ Jesus and also thanking HIm for the times He has said no to me because He knows what is best for me!!

January 12, 2014 at 9:26 amGreat thoughts for todays verse lots to think about. I love letting God speak and then read what He has said to others. So now how this verse spoke to me. “MY GOD”, this is my Father in heaven but how often I have made it man, or employment, or family or a friend. It has been so easy to look earthward for my needs to be met instead of heavenward. But only God can meet the needs of my heart and life for He knows and understands those needs better then even I do. And this verse says “NEEDS”! Oh how often I have been bent out of shape because what I thought I needed, which really ended up just being a want, was not met. Funny how when God starts to teach you something and wants you to walk in it He brings His Word to you in many different ways. I have a real desire for 2014 to only buy what I really need. So now I see I have the power to accomplish this desire (Phil 2:13) and that my needs will be met not by what I do or don’t do but by “MY GOD”. Oh Holy Spirit help me keep my eyes heavenward on my Daddy’s goodness and to remember my needs have been purchased by Jesus at Calvary. “Glorious riches” to me are opened windows pouring out blessings I can not contain. Hallelujah! Amen.
