Psalm 1:1-6

Day 40

Before we do our last day of these 40 days together, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your contribution.  It has been a great journey.  I pray that through this time your hunger for the Word has increased and that God has ministered to you through the power of His Word.  Although this time has come to an end, continue steadfast in His Word.  It will transform your life.   May your life be a testimony to the Word of Christ dwelling in you richly.  Thank you for being a blessing and sharing your heart with me over these past 40 days.

Psalm 1:1-6 NKJV

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Today’s final study is to take this Psalm and to personalize it.  Let’s do this.

I, Freda will live a blessed and abundant life if I choose not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly.  If I choose not to let my life life be led by the worlds definition.  And if I do not take a stand with those who are scorning truth.  I am called to make God my delight and to desire His Word more than my daily bread.  It is only in His Word that I can know or experience real life.  It is only in His Word, and the choice to let his word ruminate in my heart that I will find true life.  In choosing to meditate and to fix my heart on God, I set myself up to live an abundant life.  I will become a woman firmly planted in Truth.  Someone who is not moved by every situation that comes my way, but deeply rooted and held by Truth.  God’s path will lead me to a place where the fruit of my life becomes life for others.  Incredible Word.  However, if I refuse to live like the godly and want to live in disobedience, I set my life up to be barren and without purpose. Nothing I put my hand to do will have any lasting value.  God is looking at my life and keeping a very clear picture of my choices.  He does not miss anything, but celebrates when I walk with him in righteousness.

Application for Freda  –  We will walk.  Where will I walk?  We will take a stand for something.  What am I standing for?  We will sit somewhere.  In what places have I found myself sitting?  Time to evaluate and make a shift where needed.

    Karen chooses to:

    1. Walk away from wrong choices.
    2. Refuse to stand on even the edge of the path that leads to sin.
    3. Remove herself from places that make fun of the “whatsoever things are true”.
    4. Delight and meditate on what brings abundant life……THE WORD!

Thank you everyone for sharing this 40 Day journey. It has been a true blessing that I
    eagerly desire to continue.

    Personalization and application:
Sue’s road to blessing will be rooted n His Word. I will make every effort to examine where I am walking, standing and sitting as each is a further progression to abiding or dwelling. I will chose the path to becoming the fruitful tree continually watered by the Word rather than the one withering and becoming as dust.

WOW! Hard to believe 40 days have come and gone so quickly. I will miss my daily times with you all and your wonderful insights into God’s Word. It always amazes me how we can read the same verses yet see things in different lights. I think this just goes to prove how creative our God really is. The message never changes, God is good all the time, but how we get to that message is oh so personal.
Yesterday I think I did the personal one so today I am trying to do the paraphrase one. Sorry hope I don’t confuse anyone 🙂
Happy, fortunate, successful is the person who seeks godly counsel and does not operate in the ungodly, wicked, sinful counsel of the world; nor does tis fortunate person stand, support agree with the way the world thinks and acts; nor does a successful person sit, entangle themselves with those who look down on the Word and the things of God.
This person finds great pleasure in the Word of God and on God’s Word does this person think quietly and deeply every moment of the day.
They are like strong, living plants, planted in a good nourishing place. They are fed from the rivers of life, love, joy, grace, kindness and light. Therefore , they are positioned to bring forth these fruits in season. They stay fresh, robust ever green never withering under the pressures of life. Because they are rooted, well nourished, always in His presence they are successful at whatever they do.
But sadly for the one who choses to walk with the world it is not so. They are blown, beaten, pressed down, not nourished so end up like chaff easily defeated by life.
For this reason these ones that walk, stand, sit with the world and it’s ways; they will not be found before the throne of their loving God nor will they enjoy the fellowship of the redeemed of the Lord.
God is so aware of our goings and of all those who have by faith chosen to be called by His Name. But those who walk in self-centered, willful ways will surely perish.
Blessing to you all I miss you already 🙁

Day 40 has arrived and I am sad to see this part of my day spent in meditating on God’s word in many different methods of study that has deeply enriched my own walk with the Lord.
This chapter in Psalms is one of my personal favorites and has confirmed in my heart that I was meant to participate in these studies and we have only begun to scratch the surface of these passages. If I am going to be blessed and prosper in my spiritual journey,I need to not only take these verses to heart but live them out in my day to day journey-keeping my eyes on the finish line where I will delight to see my Savior’s face and hear His voice welcoming me to His banqueting table. The fact that I am known by God intimately, deeply and perfectly has been impressed on me and I have a deeper appreciation of how much He loves me.and how He longs for my journey to be filled with HIs Spiritual blessings like joy, peace, patience, perseverence under trials, love that flows from Him to me and overflows from my life to others who share this journey with me. These are the blessings that make travelling this road meaningful and so worth it. We have in this life just a taste of what is waiting for us in glory-these provisions supplied by His Hand are glimpses of what awaits for us when we reach our destination. It is my prayer that each one of us who has shared these 40 days in the Word of God wil remember what He has taught us and be energized to continue to walk in the path of Godliness. Thank you Freda for your competent leadership and for being available to be used by God in His work. Thank you for your faithfulness each day to start each of us thinking on heavenly things. I have been truely blessed by this study and by the deep refection on scripture. Looking forward to doing another of these with you all someday in the future! <3

    Ps. 1:1-6 which reads…

1 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

I am blessed when I hear God and does what He says. Blessed also am I, when I avoid being like my ungodly friends. I choose to meditate on the Word at all times. I am stable because of the Word…and inherit life everlasting. The ungodly perish because they have rejected the path that leads to Life.

lYes. God gave His Son, I am blessed and I am blessed because God gave me you, I am blessed.
